Student Equity, Excellence, and Diversity Digitizing Hawaiian Language Newspapers to Promote
|
|
EvaluationIn February and March, the Distance Learning Librarians were asked via email: "What questions you would like to have answered by the users of the PC/Hawaiian newspapers other than the generic ones we already have in our basic survey form? (For Maui, you will probably want to consult with the Education Center coordinators/staff to find out what they would like to learn from their users.) If there is specific information you would like to gather from each site's users - please send those questions in.[...]" As yet there have been no specific additions or changes requested by Kauai Community College. Maui indicated that: "[...] Regarding surveying users, probably the basic questions like course, how many times the student has used the site, how useful, suggestions. [...]" Those changes are reflected in the custom survey forms currently on the web page (see attachments). The equipment was not set up at most locations until the Spring '99 semester was nearly over - and some sites will not have their equipment ready for public use until Fall '99 - therefor, as yet there has been little opportunity to perform an assessment of usage via the online survey form. On June 16 1999 Donna Haytko-Paoa of the Molokai Education Center reported: "We have the computer set up on Molokai, independent of the MCC library on Maui. We are planning to move to a permanent facility in about 3-4 weeks and are packing things up for the move. We have only a few summer "bridge" classes for high schoolers going off to college, and one SPED 404 class this summer so the computer is not going to be used for the next month or so anyway. When the Fall Semester starts, we will have it set up in our 'library/learning resource center' in the new building for student use." |
