Jan Zastrow, UHM's Congressional Papers Archivist, recently passed the rigorous exam for membership in the Academy of Certified Archivists.

The Academy of Certified Archivists is an independent, non-profit organization for certifying professional archivists. The Certified Archivist (C.A.) credential is quickly becoming the distinguishing mark of the most proficient and effective archival professional.

Academy members demonstrate a high level of continuing professional commitment. They are proficient with all aspects of archives management, have experience with every type of document, and work for a variety of organizations. Within the archival profession, 'C.A.' is a mark of attainment, distinction and commitment.

About Jan Zastrow

Jan Zastrow possesses a broad background in information and records management. Prior to working at UH Library as Congressional Papers Archivist, she was president and owner of HyperClick Online Services, a Honolulu-based information management consultancy specializing in customized Internet applications such as digital archives, web resources, research and training.

Her professional archival experience includes work at the Hawaii State Archives, Iolani School Archives, the Hawaiian Mission Children's Society Library (Mission Houses Museum), and at UHM's Bachman Hall processing the papers of then-UH President and Chancellor Kenneth P. Mortimer. Zastrow is past president and longtime member of the Association of Hawaii Archivists as well as the Society of American Archivists.
