Hawaii Congressional Papers


The Hawaii Congressional Papers Collection comprises the papers of Hawaii delegates to the U.S. Congress since statehood in 1959 to the present.

The collection falls under the auspices of the Archives & Manuscripts Department of the University of Hawaii Library, and is housed in the East-West Center's Imin International Conference Center (a.k.a. Jefferson Hall). A print-friendly brochure (in PDF) provides information about the collection, its formation and holdings.

The papers already held by the Hawaii Congressional Papers Collection include those of U.S. Senator Hiram L. Fong (660 cubic ft.), U.S. Representative Thomas P. Gill (86 cubic ft.), U.S. Senator Spark M. Matsunaga (900 linear ft.) and U.S. Representative Ed Case (215 cubic ft.). Please call 808/956-6172 or 808/944-7656 for details or to make an appointment.

Small collections of memorabilia from Territorial Delegate John A. Burns, U.S. Senator Oren E. Long, and U.S. Representative Patsy Mink are also housed in the collection.
