Introduction |
In 1914, the first thesis was written and accepted at the
University of Hawai'i in partial fulfillment for an advanced degree
(Master of Science). Nine years later in 1923, Robert Aitken
completed the first University of Hawai'i thesis pertaining to the
Pacific Islands. His was also the first Master of Arts thesis
accepted at the University of Hawai'i. To date more than 450 doctoral
dissertations and master's theses have been completed that contain
research relating to the Pacific Islands region. To
