February 12, 1900 The bill (S. 2708) to amend an act making Senate appropriations for the construction, repair, v. 33 (2) and preservation of certain public works on p. 1711 rivers and harbors, and for other purposes, approved March 3, 1899, was considered as in Committee of the Whole. It proposes to amend section 1 of the act by adding at the end of the paragraph making an appropriation for the improvement of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, the following languages . To be expended under the direction of the Secretary of the Navy. The bill was reported to the Senate without amendment, ordered to be engrossed for a third reading, read the third time, and passed.
